Nigerians in London can register for NIN at a diaspora enrolment centre such as Dicksons World Services, 530–532 Kingsland Road, Dalston, London E8 4AH (open Monday–Saturday, 9am–6pm). You need an NPC birth attestation, a Nigerian passport and a NIMC pre-enrolment reference, and you must attend in person for biometric capture.
This guide is for Londoners planning a NIN enrolment: how to choose a time, what to prepare, and what to expect. For our centre's details, see NIN registration in London.
Who registers for NIN in London?
London has one of the largest Nigerian communities outside Nigeria, and the people who need a NIN here usually fall into a few groups:
- adults who left Nigeria before NIN enrolment became widespread;
- UK-born adults with Nigerian parents who now need a Nigerian passport;
- parents enrolling children ahead of a passport application;
- people whose Nigerian bank accounts now ask for a NIN.
Where to register in London
NIN enrolment in London is carried out at diaspora enrolment centres, not at the Nigeria High Commission. Our centre is in Dalston, in the London Borough of Hackney. If you are deciding between centres, compare opening hours, whether you can book a fixed time, and whether the centre publishes its fees and requirements clearly. Our where to register NIN in London article covers this in more detail.
Planning your visit
Pick the right day
We are open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. If you can only come on a Saturday, book early to get the time you want.
Plan your journey
Dalston is served by London Overground (Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland) and by buses along Kingsland Road. Check the TfL Journey Planner for live service updates before you set off, especially at weekends when engineering works are common.
Allow enough time
Arrive 10–15 minutes before your appointment, and allow extra time if you are enrolling several family members.
Preparing documents in London
Your NPC attestation and pre-enrolment are done online, so you can complete them from home. If you need anything printed or photocopied, we can do it at the office. The full list is on our requirements page.
Families
Many London families enrol together. Children must attend with a parent or guardian who has a NIN. If the parent does not have one yet, the parent can enrol at the same visit. See child NIN registration.
After your appointment
You leave with an enrolment slip. NIMC then processes your record, and you can verify your NIN once it is issued. If you then need a Nigerian passport, the Nigeria High Commission in London handles passport services.
Common questions from Londoners
"Can I do it in my lunch break?"
Possibly, if your documents are complete and you are enrolling alone. Book a time and arrive early. If you are bringing family, allow longer.
"I live in south London. Is Dalston far?"
Dalston is reachable from most of London by London Overground. Use the TfL Journey Planner to check your journey before you book.
"Should I go to the High Commission instead?"
No. The Nigeria High Commission handles passports and consular services. NIN enrolment is done at enrolment centres.
